Lifeguard – Summer 2026
Are you interested in working as a Lifeguard at Highlands Swim & Tennis Club this summer? Highlands is hiring responsible and safety-focused teens to join our Lifeguard team for the 2026 season.
This is a great opportunity for teens to build leadership skills, earn certifications, and work in a safe and supervised environment. Lifeguards play a critical role in keeping our pool safe and welcoming for all members and guests.
All lifeguards are supervised by the Pool Manager and Assistant Pool Managers.

Pay Rate
$15.00 per hour

Who Can Apply
• Must be at least 15 years old
• 15-year-olds must obtain a Virginia Employment Certificate
• Must be reliable, attentive, and able to follow safety rules
• Comfortable enforcing pool rules respectfully
• Able to work 15–20 hours per week during the season
Previous lifeguarding experience is a plus but not required.

Certifications Required & Screening
• Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
• CPR / First Aid / AED Certification
FREE* lifeguard training provided by Highlands (details below).
• Applicants who are 18 years of age or older must consent to and successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment

Lifeguard Responsibilities
• Actively watch and scan the pool at all times
• Respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations
• Enforce pool rules in a calm and professional manner
• Maintain a clean and organized pool environment
• Wear proper lifeguard uniform while on duty
• Communicate with pool staff using radios
• Complete daily duties, cleaning tasks, and incident reports
• Attend required in-service trainings

Availability Requirements
• Available from Opening Day through the end of the 2026 summer season
• Must be available to work Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends

Lifeguard Training Info
Highlands Swim and Tennis Club is offering 3 FREE* lifeguard certification training sessions!
Choose ONE full session to get certified:
• Session 1: Tue, Wed and Thur, May 5, 6 and 7
6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Session 2: Sat–Sun, May 9-10
10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• Session 3: Tue, Wed and Thur, May 12, 13 and 14
6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
You must attend all days of one session to become certified.
All classes will be held at Highlands Swim and Tennis Club.
*Training is free as long as you work at least 15 days during the 2026 season.
